It is responsible for the use and protection of water resources. Therefore it regulates the allocation of water in order to ensure water availability to all water users (population and economy). The committee is responsible for managing, monitoring and regulating water resources and for all irrigation and amelioration infrastructure. For fulfiling these with the assistance of its branches (Basin Administrations for Water Resources on oblast and district levels) implementing these activities on local level.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;\">The Committee is cooperating with\u00a0the Programme\u00a0in preparing a framework agreement on transboundary water management between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan. Administration of water resources is fulfilled by the Central Apparatus of the Ministry and includes 119 organizations and enterprises. \u00a0All water resources of the country, all rivers and other sources of irrigation, dams, reservoirs and water bodies, irrigation canals and collectors, regulating facilities and pumping stations are integrated in one national water resource system which is supervised by the ministry.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;\">A\u00a0pilot project is being implemented on \u201cIntegrated Management of Water Resources in Khankhowuz Irrigation System\u201d in the framework of GIZ Programme in Turkmenistan in cooperation with the Ministry of Water Economy.
