ASHGABAT – The Stakeholder Dialogue on Water Saving and Conservation took place in the framework of the EU-funded action “Water Management and Basin Organisations in Central Asia (WMBOCA)”, implemented by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH.
During the meeting representatives of state agencies, international organisations, national and international experts discussed issues of rational and effective use of the water resources.

On 1-7 Nov. 2012, water management and nature protection specialists will have technical training in the city of Mary. The training in a frame of “Water Management and Basin Organisations in Central Asia (WMBOCA)” projects funded by the European Union and implemented by programme of Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH.
Professionals in the spheres of water management and nature protection working in Mary velayat will get training on data base, geographic information systems (GIS) and earth remote sensing (satellite images).
The training will be conducted by highly qualified specialists of the Scientific-Information Center of the Interstate Coordination Water Commission of the Central Asia (SIC ICWC).

Purpose and context of the Review
The underlying mid-term review report is based on an assessment of the pro- gramme ́s status from the point of view of its perceived impacts. The review ́s ap- proach was primarily learning oriented and designed to support reflection within the programme team.
The review did not only take a close look at the German contribution, but also at the activities occurring in partner organizations (like UNECE) and target groups...
There is an opinion that effective solution of problems in CA water sector requires reforms, first of all, in the existing system of regional institutions, and in the legislative frameworks of cooperation. How drastic should these changes be, what can and needs to be done today, and what actions should be taken for the longer perspective, and, most importantly, how within the existing frames of relationships in the region, one can achieve maximal effectiveness of taken efforts. Mr. Marton Krasznai, UNECE Regional Adviser for Economic Cooperation and Integration, kindly agreed to answer the questions of CARNet.
